  • ·   Book review about “The Bluest eyes”

We studies about American literature and how society in many changes or problems between in realty see in many novel, poem, poetry, ballad, drama etc. In American in this age, society in black and white different and children and women are not safe here. His writing has contemporary American literature. Toni Morrison has one of best and Morrison has observes so many think in reality of society and men how they treated to women and also we see that criminal and tyrannical world of American society and gender disparity, women beauty at theme in this novel. Toni Morrison wrote this novel “The bluest eyes” titled has well appropriated and how relationship between men and women. In novel begun that at Claudia and Frieda Mac Teer live in Ohio with their parents. Pecola has protagonist and she is poor black girl. She brought up in the modern American society and unlucky girl feted to meet her tragic doom. Toni Morrison has narrated and ported to Pecola has black girl child and how society has cruel to them. She becomes victim of the prevalent social system of her time. In novel goes way, The Mac Teer family takes two other people in their home, Mr. Henry and Pecola. Her parents are constantly fighting and we see that physically and verbally. Pecola is continually being told and reminder of what an “ugly” girl she is and we see that how gender different and women beauty are very important. And we know that fueling her desire to be Caucasian with blue eyes. Morrison sees love as a dynamic force. Which can be extremely damaging depending on who is doing the loving? Moreover, she lives in the male dominated society and how men power exploitation of woman is a very common practice. Toni Morrison has want ways that throughout the novel it is revealed that not only has Pecola had a life full of hatred and hardships.

“Being child, being Black and being a girl” – Claudia.

As we has face to social problems and her mother Pauline only feels alive and happy when she is working for a rich white  family. Pauline and Cholly breedlove relationship are not good but many a time Pauline wants way and who wanted nothing to do with him. Both eventually lost the love they once had for one another. Toni Morrison has gives ideas of father and daughter relationships are broken down and we know that love has no important.

In novel Morrison  has narrated to  tragical way in novel end and how gender disparity of while Pecola is doing dishes, her father intoxicated rapes her. And she is black and no any argues or said that her father and you can see that how father is rapes his daughter and this image are very cruel and see that social reality in this scene.

  • ·       Main issues in novel
  Whiteness is beauty
  Beauty is subjective
Love  is only as good as the lover
  Gender disparity
  Sacrifice
   Sexual desire

The bluest eye is a novel contains several relationships, although the relationships never end pleasantly. As we find that how father has to drunk and criminal of mind and novelist also social situation of men sexual desire, they are doing that cruel. Cholly’s friend Blue Jack and both became close friend Cholly enjoyed the company and he didn’t have much faith in religious or almightily god.  Cholly has bad character and he is father but we see that his moral and orthodox beliefs prevalent in black community. Pauline and Cholly married life are not good and both fight him. In this novel “The Bluest eyes” in Pecola has center but in her tragedy that she is black child. At time pass that seemingly a combination of both love and hate.

Cholly flees after the second time he rapes Pecola, she leaving pregnant. We find that how men sexual desire fulfils to only women and they are treated cruel and evil mind of them. Toni Morrison has narrator to women situation of society and American reality between how white men are use t o black women, girl child only for sexual desire. In novel, the entire town of Lorain turns against her, except Claudia and Frieda. Pauline ‘s three daughter ahs to face so many problems and also Pecola how three daughter ahs to face so many problems and also Pecola and no can says that crucial  reality of women and they are not against men to power.

In the end Pecola’s child is born prematurely and dies. Claudia and Frieda give up the money they has been saving and plant flower seeds in hopes that if the flowers bloom. Here we see that Pecola unfulfils desire to her eyes are blue, at white her sister Claudia. In novel we see that Morrison makes point that everyone can in fact love. Even if an evil person loves and beauty evilly, they still love. In the end of those ideas of beauty particularly those that relate to racial characteristics are a major theme in this novel. The title refers to Pecola’s wish that her eyes would turn blue.

“White skin is identified with beauty and purity”.

As we see that Morrison has portrait to Claudia has white girl and she is given a white baby doll to play with and is constantly told how lovely it is. And we know that American society in most of that white and black gender different is always there. There is racial terms and how contrast between the world shown in this novel and as well as American society and existence of Pecola, her desire to blue eye has beauty of the end that her life.

So we can say that “The bluest eye is a novel based on life of black women and it is written by a black woman itself. Morrison has described the world wide gender disparity by her characters like Pecola. Here are many recurring implications to the superiority of whites over blacks. And we can says that black women of this novel are presented as the victims of the white beauty standards of society and some of them, but we see that how men are attracted to white beauty and they are evil behaviors of black women and society are also witness. So we can says that white women has  beauty and black women has ugly, but we find that this novel in Pecola desire has unfulfils and she is hopeless desire to be identifies a white girl eventually drives Pecola to insanity.

E.g.

we see that in  realty many country in example that white and black women are different portrait in our mind and we see that in children mind their are always like to white doll, not black doll.
